Selection guide

Servo replacement: nameplate and information checklist

Collect the right motor, drive and machine information for a replacement enquiry. A practical checklist for engineers, maintenance and purchasing.

Pricing and availability

Apply this guide to your component requirement

Send us a part number, or tell us what the machine needs to do. Our UK engineers will come back with the right product, pricing, lead time and delivery, whether that is the original part, a checked alternative or a complete axis.

  • Original parts or a checked alternative
  • Pricing, lead time and delivery in one reply
  • Components, complete axes and ongoing support

No obligation. Add what you know and an engineer will help with the rest. Prefer to configure it? Build a specification.

Add quantity, timing or application notes (optional)

Spec builder

Specify servo and stepper motors

Select every part you need and answer the questions an applications engineer would ask. Our engineers use your specification to come back with the right products, pricing and lead times. You see your summary before we ask for any details.

In short:Photograph the whole nameplate and preserve the full code. Then identify the associated motor, drive, feedback, controller and machine constraints.

Checklist

Start with photographs that show the full label, not just the brand and series. Keep every suffix, revision and option code visible. If the label is damaged, include several angles and explain which characters cannot be read confidently.

EquipmentUseful information
MotorComplete model, serial where relevant, winding, speed, feedback and brake
DriveFull model and option code, input supply, firmware and fitted modules
Gearbox or actuatorCode, ratio or lead, stroke, mounting arrangement and accessories
ControllerHardware, network and software version
MachineBuilder, function, fault history and required operating duty

Do not remove guards, open equipment or access live terminals merely to obtain an enquiry photograph. Ask the person responsible for the machine to collect information using its normal safe access procedures.

Preserve the configuration

A parameter backup, wiring diagram and existing bill of materials can clarify details that are absent from the label. Have the responsible engineer preserve these before equipment is removed or reset. Record which cable belongs to which connection and whether special adapters are fitted.

A fault message is useful context but is not proof that the named component has failed. Include when the problem occurs: power-up, enabling, acceleration, steady running or stopping. Note recent mechanical, software or wiring changes without assuming that they caused the fault.

Record the interfaces that must stay

A replacement motor may need the same flange and shaft, while a replacement drive may need to support the existing feedback and controller. Mark these as fixed requirements. If there is room to change the whole motor-drive package, explain the permitted redesign and downtime.

For mechanical parts, a sketch showing key mounting dimensions is often more useful than an isolated product photograph. For controlled axes, add speed, torque or force, travel, cycle rate and holding requirements where known.

Make the buying requirement explicit

State quantity, required date and whether only a new original part is acceptable. If another condition or a different manufacturer can be considered, ask for it to be identified explicitly. A supply offer should state condition, warranty, delivery assumptions and the exact configuration.

Use the obsolete replacement service or replacement form to start. Send the essential codes first and reply to the confirmation email with photographs, drawings or backups. This checklist supports a review; it is not a diagnosis or an assurance that a replacement is available.

Engineer support

Want an engineer to check your numbers?

Send us your figures and we can discuss a sizing review and suitable supply options. Availability and the support scope are confirmed for your requirement.

  • Reviewed by an engineer, not an autoresponder
  • Like-for-like and better-fit alternatives
  • Standard, modified and custom options

Prefer to configure it? Use the spec builder.

How it works

From enquiry to delivery

Send a part number or describe the application. Our engineers take it from there: the right product, a clear quotation, and delivery and support arranged.

  1. Tell us what you needSend a part number, or configure the application, quantities and timing.
  2. An engineer reviews itWe check the specification and find the original part, a checked equivalent or a complete axis.
  3. Receive your quotationProducts, pricing, lead time and compatibility notes in one reply.
  4. Order and deliveryWhen you are happy, the order is placed and delivery and after-sales support are arranged.
