In short:Water-asset automation starts with the installed valve, its operating requirements and the practical limits of power, access and communications at the site.

Automating water and wastewater assets

A treatment-works valve, a reservoir installation and a remote distribution asset create different enquiries. Start with the valve reference, operating duty and site conditions. State whether the requirement is for an actuator replacement, automation of an existing valve or a new valve-and-actuator assembly.

The AMP8 programme context may explain the project, but it does not select the product. Procurement teams still need a defined configuration, documentation, price, delivery route and support scope. Our UK engineering team helps turn the requirement into a sourcing enquiry for the relevant hardware.

RIFT ranges for assessment

RIFT publishes RAS, RAM, RAL 300 and RAL 600 actuator ranges. Review the exact torque, supply, interface and enclosure information on the relevant product page. The intended duty and configuration must be confirmed for the installed valve. A platform-level feature list should not be assumed to apply to an older actuator or every order code.

Information for a water-asset enquiry

TopicWhat to record
Installed valveManufacturer, reference, valve function and operating requirement
Existing actuatorComplete code, mounting, output and control arrangement
PowerAvailable supply and constraints at the location
ControlLocal operation, remote commands and required feedback
SiteEnvironment, access, maintenance arrangements and installation constraints
ProjectQuantity, required date, documentation and support expectations

Low-power, battery and solar operation

RIFT describes low-power and remote-site applications. Treat the entire installation as the enquiry: operation frequency, available energy, standby demand, accessories and maintenance access all matter. A battery or solar claim should be checked against the proposed configuration and the site operating duty. Do not infer an unattended operating duration from a general product description.

Monitoring and connected functions

Separate the actuator command, actual position and the physical process outcome. Agree what information the control system receives and what action follows an exception. The manufacturer distinguishes established actuation features from developing connected services; confirm availability and the integration scope before including those services in a project specification.

Retrofit and supply support

For an existing asset, retain photographs, drawings and configuration information. Explain which interfaces must stay and whether a valve change is acceptable. The supply proposal should identify the actuator, mounting accessories, documentation and responsibilities for installation and commissioning.

Browse valve actuators, explore remote irrigation actuation or send a part number for pricing and sourcing. The full configurator can record a new requirement before the precise order code is known.
