In short:A nominal 48V supply and an EtherCAT label define only part of the enquiry. Establish voltage extremes, power flow, control modes and exact motor compatibility.

Specify the power input precisely

A drive for a nominal 48 V system must accept the actual operating voltage, including the intended supply tolerance and any increase during deceleration. Battery systems and regulated power supplies present different limits. State both the motor-bus and logic-supply requirements.

Do not confuse a drive’s low-voltage control supply with its motor-power supply. A mains-fed AC drive may have a 24 V logic input without being suitable for a 48 V motor bus. Read the exact model’s electrical data rather than searching every specification field for a voltage number.

Confirm the EtherCAT functions

Identify the controller, required operating modes, synchronisation requirements, firmware and device-description file. The network is the communication route, while motion support depends on the implementation at both ends. Include external feedback, homing, brake control and any coordinated-axis requirements.

For a motor retained from an existing installation, provide the winding, current definitions, encoder protocol and temperature sensor. Ask for a compatibility review if these interfaces are uncertain.

Current and heat can decide the package

For the same mechanical output, a lower-voltage architecture may require higher current than a higher-voltage one. Cable losses, connectors, drive cooling and supply capacity therefore need attention alongside the motor’s torque-speed curve. Peak current duration matters as well as the headline current rating.

The Leadshine ELD3 catalogue entry lists a DC supply range that includes 48 V and EtherCAT among the series interfaces. That makes it a range to investigate, not confirmation that every ELD3 variant, motor or controller combination matches your project. Verify the exact ordered interface, ratings and feedback.

What to send for selection and pricing

Include supply minimum and maximum, motor code or required torque-speed duty, controller model, communication modes, number of axes and quantity. Describe available space, cooling and any environmental constraints. If the equipment is a mobile robot, include deceleration and battery constraints.

We can discuss suitable supply-network ranges and identify missing information before quotation. Availability, compatibility and any required accessories are confirmed for the specific configuration, rather than inferred from a general series description.

Product ranges to discuss

These are starting points from the catalogue, rather than a confirmed selection. Options within a series vary; an engineer must check the exact configuration.

Turn the requirement into an enquiry

Send the application, quantities and deadline, plus any existing model codes. We can discuss the original part, alternatives or a matched package. Compatibility, availability and supply arrangements are confirmed for the specific enquiry.
